AmaWaterways Cancellation Charges

In the unfortunate event you must cancel travel, notice needs to be made to Traveling Troubadour Cruises & Tours in writing, stating clearly and correctly each passenger’s name and a brief statement of the reason for cancellation.  If already issued, unused air tickets must be physically returned to us before they can be cancelled. Cancellation date is the date we receive the written cancellation notice and unused tickets. A name change or substitution of participant is also treated as a cancellation in that all cancellation charges apply.

AmaWaterways Cancellation charges are per-person, based on the cancellation date, as follows:

(i) more than 121 days before departure: $200 loss of deposit;
(ii) 120-90 days before departure: $400 loss of deposit;
(iii) 89-60 days before departure: 35% of cruise or cruise tour price;
(iv) 59-30 days before departure: 50% of cruise or cruise tour price;
(v) 29-07 days before departure: 80% of cruise or cruise tour price;
(vi) 6 days or less before departure: 100% of cruise or cruise tour price.

Cancellation charges also apply to additional charges for upgrades, transfers and other pre-purchased services. Protection plan premiums are non-refundable. Additional cancellation fees apply for air tickets. After travel begins, there is no refund for unused services, or unused portions of cruise or cruise/tour.

2.  AMA Waterways also offers their own additional Worry Free Program.

Here’s how it works:

For those situations that may not be covered under this travel insurance plan, AmaWaterways offers the WORRY-FREE PROGRAM. With the Worry-Free Program, AmaWaterways will allow passengers to cancel their vacation up to 24 hours (or the prior business day, whichever is further out) before the scheduled departure date for any reason.

If the Travel Insurance Protection Plan has been purchased, claims should be submitted to Travel Guard first for review. If the reason for the trip cancellation is not covered under the Travel Insurance Protection Plan, AmaWaterways will issue a Travel Certificate, under the Worry-Free Program, for the stated cancellation penalties.

The Travel Certificate is non-refundable and non-transferable and will be valid for vacation travel within 24 months of the date of issue.

The Travel Insurance Protection Plan cost and Worry-Free fee must be paid with the trip deposit. Please note that we are unable to add the Travel Insurance Protection Plan and the Worry-Free Program after deposit has been made. Once elected, the Worry-Free Program cannot be removed from the booking.

The Travel Insurance Protection Plan and the Worry-Free Program do not cover penalties associated with air or other services not purchased through AmaWaterways.

The Worry-Free Program allows passengers to alter their travel plans to best meet their comfort and convenience, but does not cover cancellations made within 24 hours of departure (or the prior business day, whichever is further out).

*Insurance is underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., with its principal place of business in New York, NY. Coverage may not be available in all states. Assistance services are provided by Travel Guard.
