We begin our cruise adventure on Labor Day Monday in:  New York City
New York was once the capital of America, but that illustrious title seems insignificant compared to the modern role of the Big Apple. Fashion, finance and fine arts - it all happens here.
Watch in awe as we sail out of the harbor past the Statue of Liberty, our universal symbol of freedom and democracy.  The Manhattan skyline fades in the distance and we begin our grand adventure.

Newport, Rhode Island
In this natty yachting town it is not the Joneses one must keep up with, but the Vanderbilts, Astors and Morgans. They called their summer homes by the sea "cottages," but a stroll along Cliff Walk reveals some of the grandest mansions in America - the Breakers, Rosecliff, Beechwood, Doris Duke's Rough Point Estate. In town, shop lively Bowen's Wharf, taste lobster fresh off the boats.

Gloucester, Massachusetts
In a 21st-century fairy tale, the little port town of Gloucester, Massachusetts, met the glamour of Hollywood when its eastern harbor lighthouse captured a starring role in the movie, The Perfect Storm. But with practical disregard for such frivolous fame, the people of Gloucester still look to fishing for their fortune. Since 1623, the town's rugged coastline and sandy coves have enticed visitors to its shores, and with Boston only 30 miles away, if the nearby whale-watching and nature trail opportunities don't summon you, 400 years of American history will.

Bar Harbor, Maine
Once the exclusive summer resort of America's fabulously wealthy, today Bar Harbor is an artists' enclave and gateway to the rich natural beauty of Acadia National Park, much of which was donated by the Rockefeller family. Watch for white-tail deer and other wildlife. Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through the park or attend an authentic "Downeast" lobster bake.

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
For ocean scenery at its best, nothing rivals Nova Scotia's south shore.  Here find craggy coastlines, fabled Peggy's Cove and the striking German village of Lunenburg, so meticulously restored it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Back in Halifax the ramparts of the Citadel and a museum commemorating the Titanic await your inspection!  The entire Halifax region delights with its impressive array of entertainment, museums, galleries, historic sites, fine restaurants, and colorful gardens.

Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
Named the most beautiful island in the world by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.  Two must-see attractions beckon you ashore:  the scenic Cabot Trail, winding between spruce-covered mountains and rocky headlands; and the Fortress of Louisbourg, where costumed soldiers, bakers and blacksmiths recreate daily life in the 1700s.  This historic community is a mainstay of the legendary Cape Breton region, and boasts several buildings and landmarks that date as far back as 1786. Learn about the tumultuous history that helped forge this early settlement into the city that is today at the Cape Breton Centre for Heritage and Science. Strolling along the Oceanfront Esplanade will lead you to numerous statues and plaques that celebrate Sydney’s rich cultural heritage, while the nearby Cossit and Jost Houses are historical museums that will take you back in time. Sydney River—just south of central Sydney—is a rich and vibrant shopping district.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada
PEI may be Canada's smallest province, but it's big on history and attractions. Charlottetown was named for Queen Charlotte, consort of King George III. It is here that the famous Conference of 1864 was held which resulted in the creation of the Canadian confederacy.  Learn all about it on a walking tour of Charlottetown, the provincial capital.  Or cast your vote for shopping, a lobster luncheon or a tour of the picturesque farm that inspired Anne of Green Gables.

Saguenay, Canada
Gorgeous, green and Gallic, this charming village is your gateway to some of the most        stunning scenery in North America: majestic fjords, dramatic rocky capes and picturesque hamlets are all here. So are artisans of every ilk, from glassblowers to angora goat farmers.

Saguenay Fjord
Quebec City marks the start of Saguenay Fjord. This 200-mile natural canal brings saltwater from the Atlantic Ocean inland and creates a beautiful environment for waterfront living for the communities of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Enjoy as the scenic vistas of Saguenay Fjord drift by: pretty little hamlets; cliffs that rise abruptly 1,500 feet from the sea; humpback, minke and white beluga whales.

Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
(Note: Our ship will be docked overnight so we can enjoy all that this wonderful city has to offer!)
A tree-lined "Champs-Elysées, buttery croissants," the lilt of French, a grand château on the river.  Is this Canada, or is it France?  Oui, it is both---a bastion of French culture in North America where impassioned Québécois hold dear their history, language and culture.  It's pure Old World Europe right smack in North America, the heart and soul of francophone culture in the New World, and it's got a boisterous and down-to-earth population proud to show it all off. In short, it's hard not to be completely wowed by the place.  Perched atop a cliff that swoops down to the St Lawrence River, Québec City is the only walled city on the continent north of Mexico.  Nearby:  Montmorency Falls, higher than Niagara!
